Certified Korean conversation tutor — speak from day one

About Gooyoung

Hi, I'm Gooyoung. For the past several years I have helped adult learners from all over the world speak Korean with confidence. I hold a Korean language teaching certification and have taught hundreds of one-on-one conversation lessons online, from complete beginners to advanced speakers preparing for interviews.

My lessons are built around real conversation, not textbook drills. We talk about your life, your interests, and situations you actually face — ordering food, small talk at work, K-dramas, travel. I correct you gently in the moment, and after every lesson you receive written lesson notes with the expressions you learned, corrected sentences, and optional homework.

My promise to you: no hidden fees, your credits never expire, and if you are not satisfied with your first regular lesson, you get a full refund. Come as you are — even ten words of Korean is enough to start talking. See you in class!

Curriculum

Beginner
  • Self-introduction

Introduce yourself naturally: name, where you are from, and what you do. Practice the polite endings you will use in every first meeting.

  • Ordering food

Order confidently at cafes and restaurants in Korea. Learn menu vocabulary and how to ask for changes or recommendations.

  • Shopping & prices

Ask for prices, sizes, and discounts while shopping. Practice native Korean numbers in real buying situations.

  • Getting around

Take the subway, bus, and taxi with ease. Learn how to ask for directions and understand the answers you get back.

Intermediate
  • Talking about your day

Describe your daily routine and recent events in natural past tense. Build longer sentences with connectors that Koreans actually use.

  • K-drama expressions

Understand the casual speech and slang you hear in Korean dramas. Learn when banmal is natural and when it is rude.

  • Workplace small talk

Handle lunch chats, coffee breaks, and light office conversation. Practice polite but friendly registers for coworkers.

  • Travel stories

Tell engaging stories about trips you have taken. Practice sequencing events and adding feelings and reactions.

Advanced
  • News discussion

Read a short news article together and discuss it in Korean. Build the vocabulary to express opinions on current events.

  • Debate practice

Argue for and against a position with structured Korean. Learn to concede, counter, and conclude like a native speaker.

  • Business Korean

Master emails, meetings, and formal presentations in Korean. Practice the honorific forms expected in professional settings.

  • Interview prep

Prepare for job or school interviews conducted in Korean. Rehearse common questions and polish your self-presentation.

“Best Korean lesson I have taken online. Clear corrections, zero judgment, and lesson notes that actually help me review. After three classes I finally ordered coffee in Korean without freezing — that alone was worth it.”

“I was nervous about speaking Korean on camera, but Gooyoung turned it into a real conversation from minute one. We talked about my favorite K-drama and I left with phrases I used the same night. Booking the next slot felt obvious.”

“Gooyoung made me feel comfortable speaking from the very first minute. The lesson notes afterwards were incredibly detailed and I actually reviewed them twice. I already booked my next lesson!”
